Services: Research & Evaluation

Requirements Gathering

We will meet with and interview corporate stakeholders and representative users to assess the needs of the product.

We will review existing documentation in order to enhance our understanding and will do competitive analyses of products against competing products.

Usability Testing

Lebsontech has facilitated hundreds of usability test sessions across the United States where we meet with representative users and ask them to try out web sites or electronic products.

We give users a series of tasks, and record what they can do successfully and what they can't. We then produce a detailed report of issues encountered as well as associated recommendations based on usability best practices.

We usually conduct test sessions in person at a user research facility, at a conference, or in the field. Lebsontech has a portable usability lab, which is provided at no charge for all Lebsontech projects.

Through partnering agreements we also optionally offer full-service recruiting services for all projects.

Heuristic Reviews

We conduct heuristic reviews for clients. We will compare the site against usability standards and best practices with respect to the needs of the anticipated audience groups.

We will then produce a report, listing potential issues and providing associated recommendations. The heuristic review will often highlight areas where subsequent user testing should focus.

Mobile Research

We offer a full suite of mobile research services including initial requirements gathering, mobile heuristic reviews (using our test suite of devices) and mobile usability testing (on our devices or those of participants).

Accessibility / Section 508

Lebsontech is very proficient in accessibility laws and best practices and can conduct user testing with visually impaired users, as well as do heuristic reviews that include an accessibility component. Accessibility issues that are uncovered are often those that cannot be found by simply using automated tools.

Market Research

Lebsontech's psychological base involves a solid understanding of consumer behavior. We have done a variety of quantitative research projects employing web-based survey research techniques, as well as qualitative research such as in-depth interviews and focus groups.

We can also do observational research where we observe users interacting with a product in their natural environment. Our findings can then be used to help corporate clients make decisions about products and services.

Survey Research

Lebsontech can conduct web-based surveys involving anything from hand-coded HTML surveys to simple survey tools (such as Survey Monkey or Constant Contact) to higher-end tools (such as the Vovici Community product).

We will meet with stakeholders to determine what information needs to be assessed and will collaboratively draft questions to get to that information.

We will code the survey, and send email invitations and follow-up reminders to actual users. We will then analyze the data using such tools as Excel or SPSS and will produce a written report highlighting key findings.

Web Analytics

Lebsontech understands web analytics data, that is, the visualization of the backend user data that is collected automatically by web servers. We have worked with a number of clients to help them understand what they are seeing when they receive automated reports from WebTrends or Google Analytics.

Often we use the reporting data that comes directly from these analytics products and will produce a plain-English report providing explanation as to the real meaning of the charts and graphs that have been produced.

Creation of Fixed and Portable Usability Labs

We have created both corporate usability labs for in-house testing and portable labs for when testing needs to be taken on the road. Lebsontech also has its own portable usability lab, which is provided at no additional charge for all Lebsontech usability projects.
